Welcomed Makers.

Awesome group of makers from Biotechnology, Woodworker, Retired Doctor, Black Smith, Artist, Programmer, 3D Modeler

Topics of conversation:

3D PRINT talk

Good news, you can now use the PLA filament with the CCPL’s 3D Printer. Kevin brought two examples of prints he made.

The CCPL 3D Printer is available for your use.   Kevin successfully printed using PLA filament a ring which he designed using the online web based tool… TinkerCad.com

There were discussion learning to do Lost Wax Casting at a future Central Texas Makers Meeting.  You can create an flat 3D printed object using PLA filament that is 2 inches across by 1/2 inch wide  and have it ready for when the Lost Wax Casting class is announced.  Below is an example of how lost was casting works.  This give you an idea of the process.

If you can 3D design and print you can also learn to lost wax casting.  Here’s an example I found via google image search of a pendant showing the steps.  Pretty neat.

Look forward to your 3D Printed design.  If you are unable to attend that’s okay, we’ve started the “Saturday Seekers program”  This is an excellent opportunity for you to get help whether it’s 3D Printing, learning to use tinkercad, shop talk, programming, and/or problem solving.  We usually make announcements via both facebook and here  Central Texas Makers.

Upcoming Classes

Talks about classes and projects

There’s much talk about technology and  how cool it is.   So, where do you start– if you don’t have any background experience with such technology?  One technology being discussed is the Arduino board.  It’s quite popular in the robotics world and if you were to do a search for Arduino projects, you’ll see all sorts of uses for this board from robots, sensor gloves, led cubes, to fashion and even home security.

The upcoming class will be an Arduino Workshop – A Hands-On Experience Getting Started.
